NOTICE OF ELECTION Executive Board and Stewards Council Elections

      

     Notice of Local 6100 Election

 

The MATC Part-Time Teachers’ Union will hold elections to fill the positions of President, Vice-president, Treasurer and Secretary.  Elections will also be held for the following steward positions, at each of the following campuses: Truax (seat C), Downtown, Watertown, Portage, and the Off-Campus steward.  The election will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.  Successful candidates will take office and assume their positions on May 7, 2014.  Elected officials will serve a (2) two year term. 

 

Additionally, the May 6, 2014 election will seek to fill the mid-term* vacancy for the Fort Atkinson steward position.  The successful candidate will take office and assume the position on May 8, 2014. 

 

*These position will be for the duration of one (1) year, fulfilling the remainder of the original two (2) year term.

 

To be eligible to run for office, a person must be an AFT Local 6100 member in good standing for a period of one year prior to the date of the election.  If you have any question about your union standing please feel free to contact the union office:

Nomination papers require the signatures of five (5) members of Local 6100.  Union staff is available to assist you verifying eligibility of faculty members.  The nomination papers must be received by the Election Chair, Laura Turzynski, at MATC Part-time Teachers’ Union, Local 6100, Truax Campus, Mail Code #827, 1701 Wright Street, Madison 53704 by April 1, 2014.  Nomination papers can be requested from the union office:

Local 6100 Election Chair

Waterford Federation of Support Personnel

 

The support personnel of the Waterford School District are represented by the Waterford Federation of Support Personnel, WFSP Local 1818. As your union we engage in various activities including bargaining contracts that determine your wages, hours and working conditions, and legislative and political activities that support public education and school employees. PATFA members back change in constitution

Members of the Part­-time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA) voted overwhelmingly to change the way the PATFA constitution can be amended. Using secret ballot, members voted 72­-14 in favor of the proposed change.

Essentially, the change allows a majority vote of those members present at the Annual Meeting to adopt changes to the PATFA constitution. Under existing language, such changes had to be made via secret ballot and snail mail.

The PATFA constitution now reads:
