Amid the summer sun (or clouds), the Part-time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA) would like to bring you up to date on a few matters affecting all adjuncts in the University of Maine System.

During her recent trip to Pittsburgh, AFT President Randi Weingarten met with several adjunct organizing committee members and the President of the CCAC Faculty Federation.

As we move towards an election, it's time for CCAC adjuncts to publicly support the campaign by signing on to the CCAC Adjuncts United mission statement.

The GCTA encourages parents to REFUSE the NYS Standardized Assessments in grades 3-8 - these assessments serve no educational purpose because the results are not known until after the school year ends, the test questions are kept secret and there is no way to use the tests to help improve your child’s learning.  As per Dr.

School Budget Advances

                  The Prince William County School Board realized some savings in transportation costs and other areas in order to avoid cutting any programs such as full day kindergarten. The spending plan includes a step raise for school employees and reduced class sizes in 9^th grade Math.  The school system budget proposal is based on the county’s advertised tax rate and may require adjustments if the Board of County Supervisors decides on a lower rate.
